The study visit to the Netherlands took place from 28th September to 02nd of October 2009. The visit focused on the implementation of the Nitrates Directive in the Netherlands, institutional and legislative issues. Several farm visits were also included to see how Dutch farmers deal with the relevant directive.
Participants visited the following institutions and farms:
- Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food quality
- Alterra research centre
- RIVM
- Front office minerals agency (dienst regelingen)
- Farmer project 'Duinboeren'
- Manure processing plant
- Visit to a farm
- Phosphate project
- Demonstration farm for fertilization tests
- Waste water management facility
